Hi everyone! This is my Week 10 blog post for Software Engineering.

What did you do this past week?

This past week I helped my team wrap up Project 3, and I got used to taking classes on Zoom.

What’s in your way?

I need to start setting out time to work on specific classes. Every day is kind of running into the next, so I need to find a way to make sure I still get everything done on time. It’s interesting because some of my classes still do live lectures while some have transitioned to a flipped classroom format or are completely online with no lectures. I’m sure this next week of online classes will be much smoother since I’ll be aware of what to expect.

What will you do next week?

Next week, I’ll work with my team on Project 4. Particularly, we plan on working on our searching implementation, creating customer user stories, adding more tests, and implementing the elements we were asked to include in Friday’s project check-in session. I will also be working with my Data Mining team to finish up our project for that class.

What was your experience of Test #1b?

I think Test #1b was good. It was an interesting experience to collaborate with peers on an exam. Our group was lucky and did not run into issues with Proctorio, Zoom, or Canvas on the test day like we had in previous classes. I think the questions were a fair assessment of the content we covered in class and were all doable within the time limit given.

What made you happy this week?

Today, I got to hop on a Zoom call some people from my upcoming intern cohort. Since we won’t be able to meet in person, we decided that we would have Zoom calls to get to know each other and catch up from now and extending throughout our internship and after. All of us are located all across the US and Europe, so it was difficult for the hosts to find the perfect time for the call. It all worked out in the end though. I thought this was so cute! It’s nice that we are still going to be able to build a sense of community even though we are all so far apart. This made me really happy!

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

For those that are interested in UX Design, Graphics, or other creative, digital work, I learned about Dribbble this week through some friends. It’s a Pinterest-like platform that showcases a lot of work for Mobile, Web, and Product Design. It’s a great tool for finding inspiration for design work. It’s interesting to see how different people play with color schemes, layouts, shapes & sizes, and typography and how that impacts the overall look and feel of what was designed. (It might also come in handy with the IDB Project for this class!)

Thanks for reading, and have a great week ahead! :)
